A Day Off...

I went out a little early today as we had (were supposed to have) friends stopping in at 9.

They are here for a wedding and flew in from California (late) around 2:30 am and did not make it  until noon.  In the meantime, 3 of my students took all the art work out to Marti's on Main in Albion for our art show that opens on September 6th.

Anyway....Look at that face!  This is Izzy and she will be in her aunts wedding tomorrow.
We had a good hour together before they left for the rehearsal.  It was so nice to catch up....they used to live here and have been gone for 10 years....horse buddies.
So many memories of all the things we used to do together.
Remember the books of photographs I had printed called "Gallup Road?"  They were for the 3 "kids" in this family who (after tomorrow) will all be married.
I hope Terri can come back again so we can really spend some time with all our horsey friends.

This afternoon I did nothing....read for awhile and fell asleep.  Whatever.....it felt so good.

Before chores I made a potato salad....4 strips of bacon (never did that before...Roger's idea), 5 diced potatoes, celery, carrots, 2 hard boiled eggs, 6 diced sweet pickle chips, vinegar, pickle juice, a shot of sugar, salt, pepper, celery salt, mayo and mustard.

Chores a little after 5...it cooled down and the humidity was lower.  I have been totally sick of the thick air.

Berlin is getting around but is far from normal.

Does anybody need dill?  We have several rows like this.

One healthy dinner.  What a great year for tomatoes...we can pick about 1/2 of a bushel each day and have over 30 bags of sauce in the freezer.  Will make more tomorrow and then we need to buy a small freezer so we can store as much as possible from our garden.
Night all.

A message for Brett out at Oak Creek Ranch:

Does Berlin Have an Abcess?

A little after 6 this morning, the sky was pink and it was very misty in the back 40.

An hour later it was golden.

Then blue.
Chores were done in no time.

Lorrie and Moon had a lesson with Elizabeth today.  By the time they got back from the woods it was pretty hot.

I mowed for two hours, started another batch of sauce, took a shower and was already for a nice nap.
Phoebe and Gucci were waiting for me.
But then, we were pleasantly surprised by a visit from Chester and Jill.

Do you remember them?  Jill's horse Belle lived here for awhile, and after she rescued Chester he would come over for chores every morning.  What a sweet boy.
We sent them home with glads and a few goodies.

 Look at that face.....
I never did get a nap.
When I went out to do evening chores,
poor Berlin came in gimpy on her left front.  Let's see how she is in the morning.  There may be a lot of soaking and wrapping in my future.
Today our oldest daughter Stephanie, and her husband Joe are celebrating their anniversary.
They had some wedding in New York 16 years ago.

Gar did as much as he can do in the back yard for now.  He added top soil and grass seed and now we just need some rain.  I'll show you what he is doing tomorrow.

Simple dinner.

Grilled organic chicken thighs, leftover brown rice and a salad with pears, apples and craisins.
Have to go let the girls out....
Night all.
